Since the
beginning of the school year Thomas' class has been studying "classic tales". Stories like The Three Little Pigs, Cinderella, The Ugly Ducking, pretty much any story that begins with "Once upon a time." At the end of the unit the class had a party and could dress up like a character from one of the stories, Thomas was the wood cutter from Little Red Riding Hood. Thomas was thrilled to pieces to not only wear a beard but to also carry an ax to school. His teacher didn't allow the ax out on the playground,
hmm.... she knows first graders (and Thomas!) pretty well!
