Future Coffee Lover?

So I suppose I have been stopping at "Cuppa Joe", our local yummy coffee kiosk, a bit too often for iced mocha's. Kelsey has been calling her bottle and sippy cup "mocha".

Out On The Farm

My sister Emily, her husband Dan and their sweet baby Riley live in a house on Dan's family's farm in Hudson, CO. Dan's family (Dan works for a natural gas company, but helps out at harvest time) farms about 320 acres, mostly corn, wheat, & alfalfa. It was interesting to be staying on a real working farm, the fields of wheat were particularly beautiful. But the work is hard! Dan's mom was out checking the irrigation pipes at 10:00 pm and then early the next morning I hear her pickup drive by to check them again at 5:00 am. I suppose farmers don't get comp. or overtime pay....
The picture of Dan with the gun is to get "critters" particularly gophers who eat the roots of the crops. He didn't see any that evening, but they have been warned!

Riley

While my mom, Kelsey and I were in Colorado we were blessed with the opportunity to be a part of my niece Riley's dedication. My hope and prayer for Riley is that she will grow to be a woman who loves God with all her heart.

First Class Baby

Last week my mom, Kelsey and I flew to Colorado to visit my sister Emily, her husband Dan and their sweet 8 month old baby girl Riley. We flew stand-by, and as luck would have it, the only available seats were in first class! Having never flown in first class before, I was cracking up when the flight attendant came by and put an over sized linen napkin over our tray table for a tablecloth! We had REAL silverware, plates and glassware, and we were give the choice between a fruit or an egg plate. We chose the fruit which came with an incredibly yummy croissant . Back in coach (which I shall forevermore refer to as steerage), they were given the opportunity to BUY a variety of snacks for $ 3.00. No croissants for them.

Fourth of July 2009

Despite the fact that my sisters and their families were unable to make it to Manzanita this year (living in Colorado & Maine apparently had something to do with it) and the fact that we heard the BOOM of the fireworks but the "sparkle" was lost in the fog, we had a fun fourth of July on the Oregon coast.
The kids had a great time playing in the sand, thus the bath tub picture that will haunt them forever. Kelsey rediscovered that she does NOT like the waves coming up behind her, and she also discovered grandma's secret vice. If you click on the collage it will make it bigger so you can call out grandma as well. :) The boys flew kites, built and destroyed sandcastles and gathered way too much candy from the parade. A wonderful fourth of July, we hope that you will make it next year girls!
