Easter this year was a bitter sweet time for our family. On the morning of Good Friday we received the dreaded phone call that "something" wasn't right with my Grandma. And then the whirlwind began. The trip to the ER, Dr's, Nurses, waiting, and more waiting. Hastily eaten meals in the hospital cafeteria, (the chicken teriyaki is actually quite good), the diagnosis of a stroke, a parade of specialists, Easter dinner eaten off of paper plates, and dyeing of Easter eggs put off until next year. Thanks to left over candy from Thomas' birthday pinata, my sister and I managed to put together an Easter egg hunt for the kids and take some pictures. Having little ones to take care of through this crisis was a blessing, it helped us to focus our sadness on something positive. Then, the evening of Easter Sunday, the Dr. told my Mom that there was no chance of Grandma recovering. Our sadness was overwhelming. It was one of those times when even praying was just too hard, all that I could muster was "help us through this, Jesus." The odd part about all of this is that when you are given a diagnosis that there is no chance of recovery, the hospital sends a fruit tray and coffee up to the room. Strange. I suppose a pile of grapes, apples, and strawberries is somehow supposed to make you feel better? The one thing, the most important thing, the ONLY thing that made us feel better was knowing that Grandma would be going home to Jesus. Then came more waiting, Hospice care, meds, keys locked in the car, more waiting, and early morning the Wednesday after Easter, Grandma went home to Jesus. Kelsey summed it up best when she asked me, Mommy, is Grammy in Hospital? No, Grammy is in Heaven. Oh, is Grammy all better? Yes, honey, Grammy is all better.

There is joy knowing we'll see her again in heaven.
